5 Actions Smart Women do Daily to Get What They Want

We’ve all made New Year’s resolutions only to find by March it’s all a distant memory. January can be seen as a new beginning, the catalyst for change as we charge into a brand new year full of enthusiasm for a better life, better health, more money, a new love – whatever you’re aiming for.

Despite our best intentions, there’s a common speed bump we can encounter sooner or later – you have to stick at it to make things happen to create your vision, idea or goal.

You have to take daily action to get what you want.

But, consistency is hard to keep up for some, and falling back into old patterns can be the ruin of many dreams.

Smart women aiming for business goals or personal ambitions, do some or all of these actions every day.

Here’s 5 simple daily actions to help you get what you want in your life or business, whether you have a specific vision or goal, or you merely want to be better organised.

The key to every action is consistency.

Routine

We often think of routines as mundane and boring.  But, we have a deep need for routines. They make us feel safe and bring certainty to our life.  Routines give you an action where you don’t need to think about what you’re doing.  The more often you repeat an action making it a routine, the easier it becomes.  Using routines consistently will build motivation and give you courage to take on new challenges.  And, new challenges bring growth and ultimately change.

Begin Your Day Being Organised

I hear you groan, but bear with me.  Beginning your day with an organised action will set the tone.  The first thing on your list should be “make your bed“. Every. Morning.  This simple piece of advice was heard at a Commencement Speech at the University of Texas recently given by U.S. Navy Adm. William H. McCraven.  He said:

“If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day.  It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. And by the end of the day that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.”

Your Daily Intention

Make this simple and quick action an integral part of your morning routine.  By writing how you intend your day to go, or by repeating it to yourself, will set you up for success.  Remember – your daily intention needs to be in the positive, eg. “Today I will……”, or “Today I am……” not “Today I won’t do this or that”.

Focus

Bring your thoughts back to the daily actions needed today to achieve your goal because every vision or goal needs certain steps to get you there.  What is the next step you need to do today, or what is the consistent small change you want to make today? If you focus only on the end goal, you’ll be forever chasing the dream.  Build on each action until you’ve achieved what you want.

Celebrate

Celebrate even the smallest of wins.  Be your own cheer squad!  By patting yourself on the back every time you achieve something or complete a task, you’ll be building momentum, not to mention building up your confidence.  Focusing on failures however small will lead to inaction and procrastination – the two killers of success.
